  • Where do the specimens come from?

We work closely with CapeNature and all our specimens are legally sourced: Our birds, primates and small mammals come from registered rehab facilities, zoos and bird parks where they have died of natural causes. The skulls, horns and taxidermy mounts of our larger ungulates are "by-products" of South Africa's sustainable game farming/meat industry. 

  • How can I pay?

You can pay via EFT. Our banking details are listed in the confirmation email which you will receive after check out. Please send proof of payment to info@mandiblescollection.com prior to collection. All our specimens are individual pieces, unpaid items thus can only be reserved for 2 working days. After that we will re-list them on the shop.

  • Where can I collect?

You can collect your specimen weekdays between 8:00am and 3:30pm from our workshop in Woodstock, Cape Town close to the Old Castle Brewery. The address is listed in the confirmation email. Please allow us half a day to get your order ready. Please note that the workshop is otherwise not open to the public! 

  • I can't collect, what are the other shipping options?

Courier. We do ship city- and countrywide using courier services. Please allow us 2-3 working days to get your order ready. 

  • Do you ship internationally?

No, Mandibles caters to the South African market. Our overseas customers can contact our international online store at sales@blueduiker.com.

  • Do you rent out taxidermy

No, we stopped renting out taxidermy, it's just too delicate. If you would like to feature a Mandibles product in your magazine or blog, please contact us at info@mandiblescollection.com.

  • I found a dead bird/squirrel - can you taxidermy it for me?

Please send us a photo of the carcass to info@mandiblescollection.com and we will get back to you with a quote. Put the specimen in your freezer asap. We do not taxidermy pets. Payment is required upon collection.

In case of a CITES I listed specimen (we can help identify it), you will have to obtain a permit from CapeNature: http://www.capenature.co.za/permits-information/  

  • How do I maintain my taxidermy specimen?

The wrong location, sticky hands or moths can mess up your precious taxidermy specimen. To make sure that taxidermy lasts a lifetime please read through our taxidermy manual.

    • Do I need any paperwork for my taxidermy specimen?

    CITES, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, regulates the trade in wildlife products. CITES II listed specimens (such as f.ex. baboons, vervets, crocodiles, caracals, tortoises and most parrot species) require a CITES export permit when taken out of South Africa. You can obtain such an export-permit from your nearest CITES office/CapeNature: http://www.capenature.co.za/permits-information/

    • Do you offer taxidermy courses or internships?

    We cannot offer internships at our workshop. We did our first 2-day-taxidermy-course at the Mandibles showroom in June 2017. It was lots of fun, but due to our busy schedules we haven't planned another one. Should this change though, we will announce it on our Facebook or Instagram page.
